Front Garden May 2009- just beginning, planted a food hedge |
After watching the video below about the difficulties of planting a vegetable garden in the front garden I realized how lucky we are not to have such a problem. It is just two years ago that we planted a small food hedge, and since then the lawn has gradually been disappearing!

We think that the front garden looks much better full of food crops, and so much more useful!

Here you can see that our food hedge is growing, and so are the veggies and herbs behind them.

Here you can see the Mulberry and Loquat trees and a glimpse of the compost bin amongst all the other food producing plants.

The birds and bees love our changed garden as much as we do!
I love that you grow food on you FRONT lawn, i would too if i owed my home, i think it makes a fantastic statement - yours looks classy too not just rows of spuds lol! ive only just found your blog thru frugal queen but ill be back hehe xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Astra! Actually today i was on a Fair Trade Stall at a Sustainability Fiesta in Fremantle, that is a street where many of the houses have gardens like ours, so great fun to look around, in between selling Fair Trade items:)
