Inspiring People and Projects

A few days ago we attended a film night held by the Transition Town Mount Hawthorn Group at the Foyer Oxford in Leederville. The film that was shown was Who Cares and was truly inspiring as it documented social entrepreneurs around the world who are ordinary people using their skills and passions to bring about amazing changes that make the world a better place.

This event also gave us the opportunity to learn about the excellent Foyer Oxford program. This a collaboration between a range of organizations to provide stable housing, within a framework of holistic support, as well as access to flexible training, for young people. After the film was shown there was a another short film and guest speaker who informed us about a local social entrepreneur who has set up an organization called Sleepbus.org to assist people who are homeless. It was an extremely moving and inspiring presentation and whilst it is early days for this initiative it looks like it will be a great success and will certainly be very valuable.
