Playground Ideas

We have just learnt about this inspiring organization, Playground Ideas, which is an Australian non-profit organisation that equips anyone, anywhere, to build a stimulating space for play. As well they only use only local/repurposed materials, tools, and skills, meaning that many communities that could never afford such a valuable resource can do so.

Source

So far they have supported over 1,400 communities around the world to build play spaces, benefiting over 700,000 children and their communities. Play is vital for the health, happiness and well being of children so it is wonderful that through organizations like this more children will have a chance to play. Red Nose Day

Source

The 30th of June is Red Nose Day, an organization that has been instrumental in reducing the number of Sudden Infants Deaths in Australia, and that is striving to reduce the number to zero. The heartbreak of losing a child is one that only those who have suffered it can truly understand and it is one that no-one would wish on anyone. To help continued research that saves lives, and support those who have suffered such a tragedy, you can support Red Nose Day. No Child Should Suffer

Source
We agree unreservedly with the Anglican Board of Mission Tax Appeal for 2017 that states that "No Child Should Suffer". In this case the Appeal is to support the Al Ahli Arab Hospital and children in the Gaza Strip. The medical team there works unceasingly with those who are suffering and if you would also like to support their vital work you can click on this link,

Save Marawi's Children/People

Source
All around the world innocent people, including children, are being hurt, fleeing, starving, dying. To think that some people cause this suffering deliberately is absolutely sickening. In the besieged Philippine city of Marawi volunteers are risking their own lives, modeling themselves on the White Helmets of Syria to help those who are trapped. To learn more about their efforts you can click on this link.

Source
There are many people and organizations working hard to save the people and children of Marawi, including Save the Children. If you would also like to help you can click on this link.

And sadly, the people of the Philippines  are also dealing with the dead and injured at the Manila entertainment complex as well. Once again ordinary, innocent people, going about their daily lives, have been targeted and are dying and suffering as a result of others. It is terrible that there are those who commit such atrocities and  those who provide the weapons which make it so easy to cause such carnage and destroy people's lives in moments.

The Humour Foundation - Clown Doctors

The Clown Doctors spread ‘doses’ of fun and laughter to people in hospitals, health and aged care facilities and as you can see from this video to their families, visitors and staff too.

How wonderful that such an organization exists and brings joy and laughter and in doing so helps people to become stronger and healthier. For more information you can click on this link.

The Leuser Ecosystem

This beautiful place, home to the Acehnese people and an astonishing range of wildlife and plants, is being destroyed for a quick profit.

This is another reminder of what we all risk losing and how our everyday actions impact this area and the impact that these huge corporations are having. Seeing the children with masks on so that they can cope with the burning of their forests due to the demand for palm oil for snack foods is sobering.

We want to live in a world where the big picture, the small details and the long term is considered, hopefully ensuring a brighter future for all. For more information you can click on this link.

Spring Dale Public School Patiala - Celebrating the Environment

Whenever I feel despair and disgust at the way some people are behaving in this world I look at the children and feel hope. This lovely video celebrates Sikh Environment Day at Spring Dale Public School Patiala in Punjab, India.

I don't understand the language, but that doesn't matter.  These wonderful children, through their work and performances, show their passion for protecting the environment and anyone and everyone can see and feel joy at that. Young or old, or in between, we all have a role to play in caring for the earth and each other, just as these beautiful young people are doing.

A Nuclear Free Future

Source

South Australian Premier Weatherill wants to open Australia’s door to the world’s dirty and dangerous radioactive waste. This is a declining  industry which we should not be propping up for the waste will be imposed on generations of our children to come. We feel that as custodians of this planet we should be working towards improving it, not depleting and destroying it. That way all of the children of the world will be able to have a world that is worth living on and in. For more information you can click on this link.

The Declaration of the Rights of the Children

Source

Source
There are many wonderful people working to assist children around the world, however there are also those who are not and who actually hurt and kill children.. As well there are governments and corporations who assist children and there are those who do not and whose actions/inactions hurt and kill children. We are all part of the human race and I truly hope that one day every child in the world has the chance to live the life that they dream of.

Sagar Barman - Time for Change and Justice

So many children in this world are dying needlessly due to starvation, war, neglect and abuse it is truly heartbreaking. With great sorrow I am sharing the story of the murder and torture of Sagar Barman in the hope that those who perpetrated such a deed will be brought to justice. As a mother I can only imagine the heartbreak for this family and am incredibly saddened that so many children around the world are still suffering at the hands of those who should be protecting them. It is time that all of the children of the world be able to live in safety, stability and  peace and have the opportunity to fulfill their unique potential. To support the appeal for justice for Sagar Barman, and other children like him, you can sign a petition to do so please click on this link.
